KANCHANABURI, Thailand – Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested two hotel employees in Kanchanaburi as part of an anti-human trafficking operation targeting the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrests were carried out by officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking Division under an operation dubbed “Hotel Watch.” A 57-year-old male hotel employee and a 43-year-old female housekeeper were taken into custody under warrants issued by the Kanchanaburi Provincial Court on June 11. Both face human trafficking charges.

According to investigators, the suspects worked at a hotel in Kanchanaburi and allegedly played a role in arranging meetings between hotel guests and an underage girl. Police said the scheme involved informing customers staying at the hotel, including both short-term and overnight guests, that sexual services involving a minor were available on the premises. Authorities allege that when guests expressed interest, hotel staff would contact the underage girl and arrange meetings inside hotel rooms rented by customers. Investigators further claim that employees collected commissions of approximately 400 to 500 baht for each arrangement, generating additional income beyond their regular employment.

Following an investigation by the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, officers gathered evidence and sought arrest warrants from the court. Police later received information that both suspects were present at the hotel and moved in to execute the warrants. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspects, informed them of the charges, and carried out the arrests without incident. According to police, both individuals acknowledged they were the persons named in the warrants and had not previously been detained in connection with the case. During initial questioning, both suspects allegedly confessed to the charges, investigators said. The CIB stated that the case forms part of ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and the exploitation of children in Thailand. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify all individuals involved and ensure protection for victims. (TNA)
