Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeaw reports progress from four-party talks in Malaysia on Thai-Cambodian border issues, emphasizing adherence to the four-point proposal and careful monitoring of implementation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeaw confirmed that his recent visit to Malaysia for four-party talks between Malaysia, the U.S., Thailand, and Cambodia on Thai-Cambodian border issues went well and smoothly. He noted that all parties will report back to their governments and that he will brief Prime Minister Anutin on the discussions.

Sihasak highlighted that progress has been made, but the focus now shifts to implementation. He confirmed that Thailand will maintain its four-point proposals in the ongoing Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) discussions and will also raise them in the Joint Border Committee (JBC) meetings.

Regarding concerns over influencers using “ghost sounds” near the border, Sihasak said the focus remains on the official negotiations first. On the issue of Thai nationals detained in Cambodia, he confirmed that matters will proceed according to standard legal processes, pending the outcome of diplomatic talks. (TNA)
