PHANG NGA, Thailand – Flooding in the Khao Lak area remains unresolved as water levels continue to submerge key roads and low-lying communities. Heavy and continuous rainfall has overwhelmed the drainage system, causing significant disruptions across the region.

Phang Nga Governor Phairat Petsuwan and other relevant agencies inspected the flooded area along Phetkasem Road, from Joy Tire Shop to Nong Moon Takua in Khao Lak, Khuek Khak subdistrict, Takua Pa District.

Authorities found that the area is naturally low-lying and lacks adequate drainage infrastructure. With rainfall continuing, the situation has led to stagnant floodwaters on roads and surrounding communities. The governor has ordered the immediate deployment of additional water pumps and 24-hour monitoring by officials.

Despite the challenges, some tourists were seen playfully chasing and catching large fish that had been swept onto the roads by floodwaters — a surreal moment amid the ongoing crisis. Authorities have urged drivers using Phetkasem Road to exercise extreme caution and stay informed through official updates.

Local authorities ramp up emergency drainage operations and warn drivers to proceed with caution through flood-affected zones.

Phetkasem Road remains submerged, with poor drainage and heavy rainfall causing persistent traffic hazards.
