Bangkok – The Election Commission (EC) has called a meeting to clarify to political parties campaign budgeting regulations.

EC Commissioner Ittiporn Boonpracong chaired the meeting on budget reporting by candidates and political parties, which must be in compliance with the organic law on the election of Members of the House of Representatives which requires all candidates and parties to report details of their campaign finances 90 days after the election or by June 21st this year. The report must be filed with local EC offices and must list paid expenses, outstanding expenses, and related documents proving the expenses with proper authentication.

Under the new organic law, candidates’ spending is capped at a budget of 1.5 million baht, while political parties can spend no more than 35 million baht in campaigning.
