UDON THANI, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat visited Udon Thani Rajabhat University to promote workforce development through science, research, and innovation to strengthen grassroots economic growth.
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Labor Minister Julapun Amornvivat and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Watcharaphon Khaokham. The delegation reviewed programs on upskilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning to enhance employment opportunities and local economic capacity.
Udon Thani Governor Rachan Sunhua and university executives welcomed the delegation and presented community development and human capital initiatives. The “New Generation Graduates” program, for example, has produced 40 graduates in its first cohort, all of whom have successfully transitioned into professional careers.
The delegation viewed exhibits on vocational training and innovation, such as nursing assistants, elderly care, Korean language training, bamboo handicrafts, technical trades, and agricultural development. Agricultural programs featured artificial insemination for cattle and the development of low-cost animal feed to improve productivity and reduce costs for farmers.
The university outlined three priorities: local development under the BCG model, promoting lifelong learning, and increasing social engagement through skills training, community technology development, and the development of value-added local products.
The visit demonstrated the Ministry’s commitment to integrating knowledge, research, and innovation into sustainable, people-centered community development to improve the quality of life and strengthen Thailand’s grassroots economy. (NNT)
