UBON RATCHATHANI, Thailand – The Commander of Thailand’s 2nd Army Region has confirmed that recent images showing Cambodian soldiers entering Thai territory at Chong Bok in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani, are genuine. Cambodian forces had begun digging trenches and establishing a fortified position on Hill 745, prompting swift diplomatic and military intervention.

Lieutenant General Boonsin Padklang stated that Thai troops under the Suranaree Task Force had monitored the situation for some time before initiating negotiations with the Cambodian military. As a result, both sides agreed to withdraw forces from the disputed area and to cancel further fortification activities.



Future meetings have been scheduled where both sides will convene unarmed to foster peaceful dialogue and discuss joint patrol efforts. During previous negotiations, Thai and Cambodian soldiers reportedly shared meals together, underscoring a commitment to cooperation.

The situation has not affected normal trade activities at the nearby Chong Arn Ma border market, which remains open. Authorities emphasize that border relations are stable and manageable through ongoing communication.

Thai and Cambodian troops agreed to withdraw from the overlapping area following successful military negotiations.

Future unarmed meetings and joint patrol discussions aim to maintain peace and avoid escalation along the border.
