SA KAEO, Thailand – The clashes, which began before dawn, escalated at approximately 7:20 a.m. when artillery shells and heavy fire from the Cambodian side crossed the border into Sa Kaeo’s Khok Sung district. Several shells landed in a residential community near Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, causing fires that damaged local homes.
No casualties were reported as most residents had already evacuated the high-risk zone following earlier tensions. Authorities have issued an urgent warning to remaining civilians to stay clear of the border zone as the situation remains volatile.
The latest exchange follows a series of recent border incidents that have reignited long-standing territorial disputes between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. (TNA)
