BANGKOK, Thailand – The Prime Minister’s Office has conducted a field visit in Bangkok to monitor vessel testing under a multipurpose environmental protection vessel project held in honor of His Majesty the King’s sixth cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024. Permanent Secretary Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon led the visit, joined by senior advisors and officials from the office.
The delegation traveled to Thewet Ferry Pier and Thewet Pier along the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal, where they observed testing of both large and medium-sized vessels. The project supports the development of equipment and technology for the conservation and restoration of the country’s water resources.
Officials observed a large vessel operating in the Chao Phraya River, including demonstrations of an aquatic weed collection system using a conveyor belt and a crane used to lift vegetation from the water. The delegation also observed testing of a medium-sized vessel in the Phadung Krung Kasem
Canal, suited for urban waterways.
The project, carried out jointly by government agencies and the public, addresses water-related environmental challenges and supports long-term environmental sustainability in the capital. (NNT)
