BANGKOK, Thailand – Heavy rain caused flooding on both inbound and outbound lanes of Phahon Yothin Road outside Kasetsart University in Bang Khen on September 25, making travel difficult for smaller vehicles and causing traffic to build up.
Floodwater accumulated across the road after heavy rain hit several parts of Bangkok. Vehicles were forced to slow down, while traffic began to back up through the affected area. District officials sent municipal officers to the scene to help manage traffic, assist motorists and pedestrians, and speed up drainage from the road surface. Officers also monitored safety around the bus stop, where passengers were waiting for public transport.
Motorists were advised to avoid the Phahon Yothin section outside Kasetsart University if their journey did not require it. Vibhavadi Rangsit Road and BTS services were suggested as alternatives.
Drivers passing through flooded sections were urged to reduce speed to avoid splashing pedestrians and to take care around water that could cause engine problems. Public transport users were also advised to allow extra travel time because buses and taxis could be delayed.
Flooding was also reported on parts of Chaeng Watthana Road, where motorists were advised to slow down and exercise caution.
