BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) on Wednesday held a full-scale simulation of the registration process for the upcoming Bangkok gubernatorial and city council elections. The simulation covered all stages, including registration, document verification, queuing, and the drawing of candidate numbers. Facilities for candidates, media, and the public were also demonstrated to ensure a smooth, transparent, and fair registration process, which is set to begin tomorrow.
Narong Ruangsri, BMA Permanent Secretary and local election director, confirmed full readiness for the registration period, which runs from May 28 to June 1 at City Hall Din Daeng. To ensure transparency and fairness, the BMA and the local election committee have established an election coordination center at the City Hall Sao Ching Cha to receive and investigate complaints. According to BMA data, the number of eligible voters has increased from 4,402,948 in the 2022 election to 4,507,523 in 2026, an increase of approximately 100,000. The election budget has also risen to 294.10 million baht, up by approximately 86 million baht from the 207.85 million baht spent in 2022. (TNA)
