Aqua illumination festival to light up in Krabi, Phuket and Phang-nga from 14 May-12 June

Thailand’s largest lighting festival, the “Aqua Lumina, the Magical Lights of Andaman”, to take place across the three gorgeous provinces of Krabi, Phuket and Phang-nga from 14 May-12 June, 2022.

Tourists international and local are invited to experience some magical festive fun at the “Aqua Lumina, the Magical Lights of Andaman” event that will take place in the three gorgeous southern provinces of Krabi, Phuket and Phang-nga from 14 May-12 June, 2022.

H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, and Chairman of the “Aqua Lumina, the Magical Lights of Andaman” event, said, “This is the largest lighting festival in the country. We expect it to draw at least 90,000 Thai and foreign tourists and generate at least 700 million Baht for the local economy, in doing so providing much needed stimulation for the tourism industry and businesses in the Southern region as Thailand reaffirms itself as a preferred holiday destination for travellers the world over.”



“With high-quality tourists from major source markets around the globe starting to travel again, this is an important time for Thailand to demonstrate its world-leading ability to create and stage memorable events of all nature from sports, arts, and music, to culture, fashion, and cuisine.”

The “Aqua Lumina, the Magical Lights of Andaman” lighting festival promises to be a spectacular, not-to-be-missed occasion for families and all visitors. It is taking place across one of the best times to experience the wonderful southern destinations of Krabi, Phuket and Phang-nga – from May through June.



Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, TAT Deputy Governor for the Domestic Market, said, “The Aqua Lumina, the Magical Lights of Andaman” will feature a different sea-related theme in each of the three provinces. It will take place in Krabi first, from 14-25 May at the Royal Lanta Boat Museum and Lan Phra Athit, Krabi Provincial Administrative Organisation with the event venue covering around 30,000 square metres. Following this it will be held in Phuket from 20-31 May at Nai Han Beach with an event space of over 12,000 square metres, and then in Phang-nga from 27 May-12 June at Memory Beach with an event area of over 14,000 square metres.”



In Krabi, the event’s theme will be “The Land of Magical Creatures” and visitors will be able to enjoy beautiful light and sound displays, photo opps with adorably lit-up underwater creatures, live music by local bands, the Illuminated Nora Dance, a fire performance show every Friday and Sunday, a display on project mapping, and local cuisine from different food stalls.

In Phuket, the theme will be “Land of the Guardians of the Andaman”, with light and sound entertainment, plenty of photo opps, an illuminated Nora show, fire performances, live local bands on Fridays and Saturdays, a projection mapping show, sea-themed activity booths, and food truck cuisine from prominent Phuket eateries.


In Phang-nga, the theme will be “Land of Dancing Waves”, where MUSIC & ILLUMINATION techniques will allow visitors to take photos with various shapes of waves and lights in the shape of undersea coral, and there will be concerts by local artists, a surprise hip-hop artist performing on stage, activity booths and cuisine from over 20 eateries.
