BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed the nationwide deployment of water pumps to support urgent flood-relief operations in Hat Yai, emphasizing that public safety and timely, sufficient assistance must remain the government’s top priority.
The Prime Minister made the directive while presiding over the second meeting of the Committee on the Management and Administration of Natural Disaster Situations for 2025. The meeting placed special focus on Hat Yai District, where conditions have continued to deteriorate due to heavy rainfall and large inflows of water.
The Prime Minister said he has closely monitored the situation, noting that he visited Hat Yai on November 23 after receiving reports of severe flooding across the South. During the visit, he ordered all agencies to fully mobilize resources, integrate response efforts, and deploy machinery, equipment, and disaster-relief tools to affected areas. He also instructed authorities to bring water pumps from all regions nationwide to accelerate drainage operations.
The Prime Minister stressed that protecting residents’ lives and well-being must take precedence and directed agencies to ensure assistance is delivered equitably, comprehensively, and without delay. The meeting was convened to assess the situation and issue additional guidance to ensure that all affected communities receive immediate and adequate relief. (NNT)
