Anutin leads merit-making ceremony at Krabi’s Wat Tham Suea

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a merit-making ceremony at Wat Tham Suea to raise funds for the restoration and construction of religious structures supporting Buddhist activities and heritage preservation.

KRABI, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a merit-making ceremony at Wat Tham Suea in Krabi Province on May 31, 2026, to raise funds for the restoration and construction of religious structures in support of Buddhism. The Prime Minister was accompanied by his spouse, Thananon Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, and other officials. They attended the ceremony at Wat Tham Suea in Mueang Krabi District. More than 2,000 participants attended the ceremony, including provincial governors from southern Thailand, local officials, private-sector representatives, and members of the public.



​Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed with a cultural performance by members of the Krabi Provincial Administrative Organization. He then proceeded to the temple’s main pavilion to preside over the Buddhist chanting ceremony and present offerings and donations to the monastic community. The ceremony was held to raise funds for the renovation of deteriorating religious structures and to build new facilities supporting religious ceremonies and monastic activities.

The monastic proceedings were led by Phra Thep Vajirakorn, Acting Abbot of Wat Tham Suea and Deputy Ecclesiastical Governor of Region 17. Following the religious rites, the Prime Minister met with local residents, toured community booths, and sampled traditional southern Thai delicacies prepared by local government offices and private entrepreneurs before departing from Krabi International Airport for Bangkok.
