Monday, June 24, Phoenix Gold – Stableford

Phoenix on the day after the European Thailand ladies open, playing from the same tees as the professionals, and big things were expected of the field. Unfortunately there was only one score below handicap and the rest were also rans.

George Barrie took third spot with 30 points, A.J. Beasley was second on 32 and the only lady player in the field, Sasicha, took first place with a fine 39 points. There were no 2s recorded.

Wednesday, June 26, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

The Haven Consultants Monthly Medal today, with 9 groups set to cross swords at Green Valley.

The ladies competition was closely contested as usual with the ever-present Miss Noodle (H/cap 10) occupying 3rd place after dropping only 4 shots on the back nine for a net 69, one point from being in a shout for the top spot. Miss Porn (23), 5 shots better after the turn, lost out on countback to Miss Thip (18) who had 8 pars on her round to take the plaudits with a net 68.

Overall, the men’s scores were not impressive with that old warhorse, Jeff North (10) again on the podium with a net 73 one point behind Arch Armstrong (11) and Tony Oaks (12). Tony claimed the medal on countback with 39 on the way home.

There were four 2s today, from Porn, Phin, Lynn and Jeff.

Friday, June 28, Parichat – Scramble

The Billabong monthly scramble was held at Parichat Golf Club on Friday. The scoring as predicted was good but not spectacular, and there was only 3 shots separating the eight groups that played.

The Courtyard Cavaliers of Geoff Couch, Arch Armstrong, Jeff North and Tony Oakes took third prize with a score of 61.2. Coming in second was the Billabong A team of Todd Givens, Nok Givens, Sasicha Duangkham and Sandy Chapo with a score of 61, but the quartet of Auke Engekles, Bob StAubin, Andrew and Glenn Smith took the prize and rang the bell with a score of 60.8.
