PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, Jan. 11, The Emerald – Stableford

Twenty-one players were to start but with 3 no-shows we were down to 18 enthusiastic golfers for today’s crack at Emerald.  It had been a long time since we had ventured to this course but by all reports from the players later it has improved greatly.  Playing from the white tees and with a few rain delays the troops battled through a long and slow day.

Thursday, Jan. 14, Crystal Bay – Stableford

Four buses loaded with 35 golfers headed out today for our Crystal Bay challenge.  The weather was the stock standard sultry and we played C and A Nines in that order off the white tees, (A nine was used for the count-backs).  The course was in good nick and generally held sway against the field, except for a merry threesome.

Frankie Sharratt’s swing coach, Karen, advised him when he headed out this morning, to “never try to keep more than 300 separate thoughts in your mind during your swing”.  Frankie never listened!

Also at one point Jason Schembri pointed out to Mike Gosden, when your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club, or two more balls.  Mike never listened!

Graham Rice continued with his recent form and enjoyed a ‘day out’ of consistent golf to snare a win alongside Alex Field and John Anderson in their respective grades.  Alex obviously enjoys this course, registering 40 points for a second time in recent weeks.  Other bouquet performances were provided by Piere Cere and Fred Cypers, whilst Frank Waterhouse, Brad Robins and Patrick Poussier were delighted with podium finishes for their modest returns.
