Monday, October 2 – Greenwood C & B, White tees
The month kicked off at Greenwood on the C & B nines, marked by damp conditions and the occasional mudball. While the pace of play was a bit sluggish, there was a notable return to normal scoring after two weeks of lower numbers. Niall Glover seized the top spot with an impressive 37 points, showcasing a return to form. Paul Smith and David Playford secured second and third, respectively, on countback, both with 35 points. The near pins contest was fiercely competitive, with Witt Mann, Bil Richardson, Paul Smith, and Michael Brett each claiming one. Exciting news for Bunker Boys enthusiasts – golf shirts will be available soon in cerise and navy, as well as navy and light blue.

Wednesday, October 4 – Burapha C & D
The action moved to Burapha for the second game of the month, focusing on the C & D nines. Despite decent fairways, the greens proved challenging with their woolly and bumpy nature, while the bunkers left something to be desired. Craig Dows dominated with a stellar 41 points off a handicap of four, showcasing a one-under-the-card performance. Gary Smith edged out Jimmy Carr for second place on countback. The near pins were contested fiercely, with Gary Smith, Alan Sullivan, Niall Glover, and Michael Brett emerging victorious. A note of caution for those planning a golfing holiday in Thailand during the festive season – be prepared for potentially higher fees, as some courses seem to be testing the waters with what could be described as fantasy fees.

Friday, October 6 – Pattavia Golf Course
The week concluded at Pattavia with Niall Glover securing the top spot once again with 35 points. Gary Smith claimed second place with 33 points, while Craig Dows took third with 31 points. Despite slower-than-usual greens, the Pattavia course was in decent condition, and Niall Glover showcased his prowess on one of his favourite courses. The near pins were hotly contested, with Paul Smith, Craig Dows, and Niall Glover making their mark. As a bonus, the first regular high-season visitors, Neil Jones, Richard Baldotto, and Dave Ashman, made their debut for the season.
