Monday, Dec. 24, Bangpakong – Alec Chilcott Cup/Stableford

It was the annual Christmas Fayre created by former golf chairman Alec Chilcott a number of years ago.  The concept being that the day’s entry fee is a gift wrapped gift related to golf; all are then placed on a table where the best scores pick first and so on until all have a Christmas gift.  There is a trophy provided by the Pattaya Sports Club that goes to the best score of the day.

We were off the first tee at our 0930 time under sunny, cool and windy conditions not seen in a long time.  The course on the day was, as always, in great shape with not a blade of grass nor a grain of sand out of place.

Thursday, Dec. 27, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

Today we had a short hop out to Pattaya Country Club, about 20 minutes from town.  After a quick check-in it was off to the first tee where we teed-off 40 minutes early under sunny skies and with a nice cool breeze.

The scores were good considering the condition of the course, which had old cups on all 18 holes, bunkers filled to the brim with water on the front nine, and all the greens had a big collection of leaves making putting difficult.  All in all it seems a lack of direction and priorities by the greens staff; most of them working on the flower beds near the 18th green.

Back in the clubhouse after a very quick round of 4 hours, welcomes went out to Jack Robertson, Alan Dornan, and Don Henchey.

Two flights today with the cut at handicap 20 and Leif Kirkgaard won the A Flight with 37 points ahead of Richard Kubicki in second on 36, while Mashi Kaneta took third on a count back from Jesper Rasmussen, both with 33 points.

Jan Lovgreen topped the B Flight with an astounding 44 points, Dave Richardson was second on 36, Carole Kubicki placed third with 34 and Elias Magnusson took fourth on a count back from Mike Winfield both on 33 points.

A Flight (0-20)

1st Leif Kirkgaard (17) 37pts

2nd Richard Kubicki (13) 36pts

3rd Mashi Kaneta (13) 33pts

4th Jesper Rasmussen (20) 33pts
