Monday, Dec. 10, Pattana – Stableford

The three nines were packed today but the marshalls did a brilliant job and there were no hold-ups. A and C courses in play and with the best score of the day Pete Sumner topped division 1 with 39 points. Harry Vincenzi was second one point behind, Ron Miller took third on 36 and Per Forsberg was fourth with 35.

An equal cut today in the seven groups of 6-17 and 18+ and John Carlin, playing off 20, won division 2 with 38 points, Louis Wong was second on 35 and Rick Assi beat Shane Tutton on a 18/16 back-nine countback after they both scored 34 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Chuck Andersson, Ron Miller, Bob Poole and Dennis Scougall, and (Div 2) Grant Cadell, Jim Connelly, Frank Grainger and Dave Howden.

No ‘2’s were recorded in division 1 but there were three in division 2, coming from Grant Cadell (C2) and Jim Connelly and Dave Howden (A8).

Wednesday, Dec. 12, Greenwood – Stableford

The B course has reopened but we could not play it today so it is the C and A nines. Playing off the white tees with an almost identical cut as Monday, 31 points was the highest score in division 1 and there were three contenders vying for top spot. A 17/15/14 back nine countback saw Paul Butler edge it over Dennis Scougall in second and Pete Sumner third, while completing the podium in fourth was Per Forsberg.

John Carlin came up trumps again in division 2 with 36 points, Bruce Gardner was second on 35, Rick Assi took third with 34 and back from rehab Leo Adam placed fourth a further point in arrears.

Not many near pins claimed today, the only successful candidates being Bob Comartin, John Carlin, Pete Sumner and Bruce Gardner.

Leo Adam birdied A6 in division 2 for the only ‘2’ of the day.

Friday, Dec. 14, Eastern Star – Stableford

There were nine groups out today with the equal cut in the three divisions at 9-15, 16-20 and 21+ and 37 points was the best score of the day, coming from Simon Kendall to win division 1. Bob Comartin took second place on 33 points and Brian Keating with a 17/16 back nine countback came in third, beating Per Forsberg after they both scored 31 points.

There was another 37 in division 2, with John Carlin taking podium position ahead of Frank Kelly in second on 35 , Colin Aspinall third with 32 and Jerry McCarthy fourth on countback over Harry Vincenzi, both on 31 points.

An even par 36 points was the winning score in division 3 and John Walsh was a happy chappie. Glyn Evans took second five points behind John and there were three 28-pointers fighting for third place. A 21/15/15 back nine countback and a 9/7 back six saw Lars Strom take the bronze, Ron Lavette place fourth and Tony Thorne just lose out.

Near pins today went to Grant Dickson, Simon Kendall and Dennis Scougall in the top flight and in division 2, Leo Adam, Colin Aspinall, Jerry McCarthy and Harry Vincenzi.

Simon Kendall, Michael Healey and Harry Vincenzi recorded the only ‘2’s of the day.

Our last game at Chee Chan has been re scheduled to the 26th December at 9.30am.
