Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul outlines plans to attract new international markets, retain existing visitors and encourage domestic travel through year-end events and festivals.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The government is working to boost tourism during the final months of 2026 by attracting visitors from new international markets, maintaining established travel demand, and promoting domestic tourism. Major events and festivals are also expected to encourage travel and generate income for businesses and local communities.

Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul discussed the strategy during an October 29 interview on the television program “Johjai.” He noted that changing international travel conditions require Thailand to retain visitors from established markets while exploring new growth opportunities.

Domestic tourism remains a priority, with the government encouraging more Thais to travel nationwide during the final quarter. Increased activity is expected to benefit hotels, restaurants, attractions, and other tourism-related businesses while spreading revenue to local communities.

Major international events and festivals between October and December are also expected to attract visitors and increase spending. The government hopes these activities will sustain tourism growth, expand Thailand’s visitor base, and improve its competitiveness as a global travel destination. (NNT)
