SURIN, Thailand – The government has ordered the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to accelerate the expansion of the power grid to Ta Khwai Temple and Hill 350 in Surin province, with work scheduled to begin this year and be completed by early 2027. The project will improve electricity access and conditions for frontline personnel stationed along the border.
Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee recently visited the area on instructions from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to inspect electricity needs and project progress. He also delivered essential supplies to military personnel serving in the area.
Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploytalay Laksameesangchan said PEA Region 3 plans improvements at nine locations with a combined budget of more than 130 million baht. The work includes more than 12.5 kilometers of electricity distribution network and additional infrastructure around Ta Khwai Temple and Hill 350. Solar-powered lighting will also be installed along about 8.7 kilometers of road from the Lan Yang intersection to Ta Khwai Temple. The government expects the project to improve safety, living conditions, and electricity access for personnel operating in the border area. (NNT)
