BANGKOK, Thailand – Typhoon Saudel made two landfalls along the coast of Zhejiang Province in eastern China on Friday after developing offshore since Thursday, becoming the third typhoon to hit the province this year. The typhoon made its first landfall in Taizhou at 8:05 a.m. local time before reaching Wenzhou about an hour later.
Ahead of the storm, authorities evacuated more than 820,000 people in Wenzhou and suspended ferry and train services. Emergency measures were also announced in neighboring Fujian Province, while coastal construction projects were halted and ferry routes suspended. No damage had been reported at the time of the report. Thailand is also keeping a close watch on the weather situation as the typhoon develops in the region, with authorities monitoring its potential effects on weather conditions.
