Thailand’s Foreign Ministry says its embassies in Europe are monitoring unrest and keeping Thai nationals informed, while emergency assistance plans remain ready for the Middle East.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring unrest in parts of Europe, where some countries have advised their citizens to stock up on food and medicine, and says Thai embassies are ready to assist Thai nationals in the region.

Jaitai Uppakarnitikaset, Director-General of the Department of Information and ministry spokesperson, said Thai embassies across Europe were following developments, issuing updates and providing periodic safety advice to Thai nationals in their respective countries. Thais living in Europe who need assistance can contact the nearest Thai embassy and are encouraged to follow its official communication channels for updates and guidance. They should also comply with instructions issued by local authorities.

Responding to reports that some European countries and the United Kingdom had advised residents to prepare supplies of food and medicine, the spokesperson said Thai embassies were issuing guidance suited to local conditions and reminding Thai nationals to follow official advice.

The ministry is also closely monitoring the uncertain situation in the Middle East and has prepared emergency assistance plans for Thai nationals should conditions deteriorate. These plans include identifying safe travel routes and maintaining communication networks to distribute timely information to Thai communities in affected areas. The ministry reaffirmed its readiness to provide full assistance to Thai citizens overseas if an emergency arises. (TNA)
