Pattaya enjoys sunny weather, while upper Thailand prepares for severe summer storms, including hail and heavy rain, until May 1.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya remains hot and humid with partly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius. While beachgoers and residents in the eastern region enjoy relatively stable summer conditions, the Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for severe summer storms expected to affect 26 provinces in upper Thailand.

According to the official statement, Announcement No. 13 (106/2568), the summer storm conditions will persist through May 1. These storms are being caused by a high-pressure system from China spreading over Vietnam and the South China Sea, which interacts with southeasterly and southwesterly winds covering upper Thailand. At the same time, a westerly trough from Myanmar is moving in over the North and upper Northeast. The resulting weather pattern is expected to bring thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind, hail, and lightning to multiple provinces.

On April 30, the affected provinces include Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun in the North; Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, and Nakhon Ratchasima in the Northeast; and Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Lopburi, and Saraburi in the Central region.

For May 1, the storm risk continues in the same northern provinces and expands in the Northeast to include Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, as well as the Central provinces of Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, and Lopburi.

The Meteorological Department advises people in these areas to be cautious of potential hazards such as falling branches, unstable structures, and lightning strikes. Outdoor activities should be minimized during storm periods, and farmers are encouraged to strengthen supports for fruit trees and protect agricultural products and livestock from weather-related damage.

While Pattaya is not currently listed among the affected areas, residents and visitors are urged to stay informed, as weather patterns during the summer season can shift quickly.

Pattaya stays hot and calm as 26 provinces in upper Thailand face summer storms with hail, strong winds, and lightning.
