A 56-year-old man lies at the bottom of a narrow groundwater well more than four meters deep after the cover reportedly gave way beneath him in Pattaya.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A tense rescue operation unfolded in Pattaya on the morning of April 29, when emergency responders rushed to save a 56-year-old man who had fallen into a deep groundwater well.

Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon arrived at a rental property in Soi Mab Yai Lia 29, East Pattaya, after receiving reports that a man had plunged into a narrow well more than four meters deep.

At the scene, a row of single-storey rental rooms stood beside the exposed well, which is normally kept securely covered. Rescuers deployed rope equipment and carefully descended into the confined space to reach the victim, identified as Preecha Tueaprakon.

The operation took around 30 minutes, with volunteers working against time to safely extract him from the well. He was brought up conscious and immediately given first aid before being rushed to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital.

Local residents said the well is usually sealed, and Preecha was often seen sitting or standing nearby. On the day of the incident, it is believed he was cleaning the area when the covering gave way beneath him, causing him to fall.

Thanks to quick action by witnesses who alerted authorities, the man was rescued just in time in what could have easily turned fatal.

Rescue workers descend into the well using rope equipment before pulling the man safely to the surface after a tense 30-minute operation.

The injured man is placed into an ambulance and rushed to hospital after being rescued, following the dramatic fall into the deep well.
