The Department of Rural Roads urgently cleaned out floodways on major thoroughfares after the Thai Meteorological Department predicted heavy rain through Sept. 23.

A team of 30 road workers toiled on Nongprue Road Sept. 20, using shovels, hoes and rakes to clean out natural debris and trash from drainage canals and pipes.



The spillways are vital conduits for storm runoff from higher ground.

Much of the junk in the drainage pipes and canals was garbage, sand and natural debris washed off hillsides.
