RAYONG, Thailand – Flooding has made several sections of Sukhumvit Route 3 in Klaeng district, Rayong, impassable following heavy rain on September 28, with motorists from Trat advised to take the coastal route instead. Klaeng district officials reported at 11:25am that floodwater was blocking traffic at several locations, particularly around Klaeng Intersection, Nong Si Nga and Nong Kla.
Motorists travelling from Trat towards Rayong are advised to use the coastal route via Laem Sing Road, the Taksin Maharaj Bridge, Pak Nam Khem Nu Bridge, Chao Lao Beach and Chalerm Burapha Chonlathit Road. The route continues across Prasae Sin Bridge before turning right onto Route 3161, then left at Wat Wang Wa Intersection and onto the Klaeng bypass.
Some sections of the alternative route also have standing water, but levels remained relatively low at the time of the update and all types of vehicles could still pass. Motorists are advised to check road conditions before setting out and drive with extra caution because flooding conditions can change quickly.
