PATTAYA, Thailand – Saengduen Parmenter, widely known as “Mae M,” or Mother M, a member of the Rotary Club of Pattaya and a pioneer of Pattaya’s cabaret nightlife, hosted a warm celebration marking her 67th birthday at Rom Sai Brasserie, Feb 20.
Mae M is recognized as the founder of TJ Bar and M@M Bar, the first transgender cabaret-style bars in the Naklua area—venues that helped shape Pattaya’s creative nightlife scene and expand employment opportunities at a time when social acceptance was limited. Her businesses later became part of the foundation for Naklua’s growth into a vibrant night-economy zone supporting tourism and local livelihoods.
The celebration drew customers, business partners, and representatives from charitable organizations, both Thai and foreign, reflecting Mae M’s long-standing relationships across Pattaya’s business and social communities. The evening featured colorful cabaret performances, special shows, live music, and a buffet reception, creating a lively yet intimate atmosphere.

During the ceremony, Mae M thanked guests for their continued support before being surprised with a birthday cake and gifts, followed by group photos and well-wishes. She also announced that part of the proceeds from the event would be donated to support stray dogs and underprivileged children in the area, underscoring her commitment to social responsibility.
As Pattaya’s tourism sector continues to rebound, driven by international visitors and year-round events, the city’s nightlife industry remains a key engine of economic circulation—supporting performers, service workers, and local suppliers alike. Long-established entertainment businesses such as those pioneered by Mae M are increasingly seen not only as economic drivers, but also as contributors to community development.
