PHUKET, Thailand – Phuket’s 16-year-old singing sensation Nene Royal has left Thailand with her family for the United States, where she will take the stage in the Live Shows of America’s Got Talent on Aug. 25. Nene Royal, whose real name is Rattikarn Amlai, departed Phuket International Airport on Aug. 19 together with her father, Narong Amlai, her mother Aom and her younger brother. The family first traveled to Bangkok before continuing to the United States for the competition.
The departure was low-key, with no large gathering of fans at the airport. Media representatives were present to cover her journey and offer encouragement ahead of her major performance.
Nene said she is fully prepared for the upcoming competition after spending much of her time training and rehearsing. “I am ready and will do my best,” she said, while thanking everyone who has continued to follow her journey and send messages of encouragement.
She also appealed to Thai fans, relatives and supporters living in the United States to help cheer for her and vote for “Nene Royal” when voting opens during the Live Shows. The Aug. 25 performance marks an important stage of the competition. Contestants will perform before a live audience before the public voting process determines who advances to the next round. Nene said she hopes to deliver a performance that is even stronger than her previous two appearances and use the energy and encouragement from supporters to give her extra confidence on stage.
Her father, Narong, thanked everyone who has supported and expressed concern for his daughter throughout her America’s Got Talent journey. He said the family has used lessons from Nene’s previous two rounds to prepare for the Live Shows and has also planned surprises for her upcoming performance. Before boarding her flight, Nene once again asked fans in Thailand and Thai communities in the United States to follow her performance, send their encouragement and remember to vote. With the Live Shows approaching, the young Phuket performer is now heading to the United States determined to give her biggest performance yet and carry the hopes of her supporters onto the America’s Got Talent stage.
