PATTAYA, Thailand – A long-delayed public toilet project at Bali Hai Pier has reached 90% completion, with Pattaya City expecting the facilities to open by mid-November 2026. Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai, the mayor’s advisory chairman Phumipat Kamonnat and city council members inspected the site to review progress on the project, which has faced repeated delays.

Poramet said the construction had stalled after the original contractor abandoned the work during the COVID-19 pandemic, making it difficult to find a replacement and continue the project. The remaining work now includes installing upper-level lighting, mirrors and drainage grilles for bidet sprays in individual toilet cubicles. The completed facility will provide 20 urinals and 10 toilet cubicles for men, 20 toilet cubicles for women, and accessible toilets for people with disabilities at the rear of the building.

Once the permanent facilities are ready, Pattaya City plans to remove the temporary mobile toilet units that have served visitors for several years. The city is also coordinating with provincial tourism agencies to develop the surrounding area into a more organized tourist service point at the busy pier, which serves travellers heading to Koh Larn.

The new Bali Hai Pier public toilets will give residents and tourists cleaner, more convenient facilities, including accessible toilets for people with disabilities, when the project opens in mid-November.
