Pattaya strengthens safety measures at Jomtien Beach with upgraded lighting ahead of Songkran and Thailand’s peak holiday travel season.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya is accelerating its efforts to improve public safety with ongoing upgrades to lighting systems along Jomtien Beach, aiming to enhance visibility and security in one of the city’s key tourism zones during the upcoming Songkran festival (April 17-19) and Thailand’s peak holiday travel period.

The initiative comes as the country enters a busy seasonal cycle marked by the Songkran celebrations, nationwide school breaks, and a sharp increase in domestic and international tourism. Authorities say the timing is critical, as beachfront areas typically see higher foot traffic both day and night, requiring improved infrastructure to support safety and crowd management.

The lighting improvement project is designed to increase nighttime visibility along the beachfront, improve public convenience, and support law enforcement efforts in maintaining order in high-traffic areas. City officials also expect the upgraded illumination to contribute to a reduction in petty crime risks and enhance overall confidence among visitors.

Pattaya’s continued investment in public space safety forms part of its broader strategy to position itself as a more secure and welcoming destination during peak tourism seasons.

The lighting enhancement project aims to improve nighttime visibility, support crowd management during school breaks and holidays, and help reduce potential crime risks in busy beachfront areas.

Safer access to the shoreline is also being improved, with better-lit and well-maintained beach access steps at Jomtien Beach to support safe movement for residents and tourists.
