PATTAYA, Thailand – Manot Nongyai, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a meeting to monitor progress on several road improvement projects across the city, with a key focus on the long-awaited upgrade of the eastern railway parallel road.

The meeting took place at Pattaya City Hall on March 13 and brought together officials from the city’s Engineering Department, Sanitation Engineering Division, representatives from external agencies, and contractors to coordinate construction plans and minimize disruption to the public.

According to Manot, Pattaya has already completed improvement works along the railway road on the western side. The eastern section, stretching from the Highway 36 intersection to Nong Ket Noi, is now ready to begin construction, with a project kickoff scheduled for March 20.

The work is expected to continue through the Songkran period and should be completed around May or June, although the contractor has only about five to six months remaining under the current contract.

The project will primarily involve resurfacing and overlaying the roadway to restore its condition after previous excavation works to install drainage systems and underground electrical cables. Officials confirmed that no additional digging projects are planned along the route.

Although the eastern railway road is relatively wide, the city plans to adjust traffic management measures to reduce disruption for residents and roadside businesses. Instead of a full road closure, partial access will be maintained to allow vehicles to enter and exit nearby properties.

Temporary barriers will be adjusted so residents can reach their homes and businesses, while public information signs will be installed to inform drivers about the construction and suggest alternative routes for those unfamiliar with the area.

Construction will begin with the left lane from North Pattaya toward the VT Namnueng restaurant area, covering approximately one kilometer, with that section targeted for completion by May.

City officials have apologized in advance for any inconvenience during the construction period.

In addition to the railway road project, Pattaya is preparing improvements for two more routes: Phonpraphanimit–Nern Plub Wan Road and Khao Makok–Huai Yai Road. Contractors are expected to finalize work schedules early next week, while city authorities coordinate with the three local police stations to help inform residents and motorists through various communication channels.
