Pol. Sen. Sgt. Maj. Panisara Khampasirikul has earned a dozen commendations during her 24 years in the Royal Thai Police, but she doesn’t show them off.

The head of investigations at the Pattaya Police Station likens her career to paying respect or decorating a Buddha statue: Some may notice what you do, some may not. But what’s important is to do your best without having to announce your achievements, she said.

Panisara has certainly had many achievements. In 2017 alone she was given four awards for teamwork and successful investigations.

A Chonburi native, Panisara attended Chonburi Vocational College before earning a Master’s degree in higher education at Rajapat University in Chachoengsao.

Upon graduation, she joined the Royal Thai Police and served four years in Bangkok. During that time she also taught the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to Bangkok schoolchildren.

After a stint as the head of investigations at Provincial Police Region 2, she transferred to Pattaya where she has been ever since. Her job is now largely administrative, overseeing the paperwork of investigations and acting as a liaison to the police chief.
