
PATTAYA, Thailand – Police in Pattaya are investigating a violent confrontation in Soi 6 after a group of motorcycle taxi drivers allegedly assaulted a foreign tourist following an altercation outside a nightlife venue.
The incident, which occurred around 1:30 AM on April 13 in South Pattaya’s Soi 6 area, was captured in a clip circulated on social media showing a group of men believed to be motorcycle taxi riders engaging in a physical confrontation with a foreign visitor.
Following the viral footage, officers from Pattaya City Police Station launched an immediate investigation, summoning four individuals for questioning, including two motorcycle taxi drivers and two nightlife staff members.
According to preliminary statements, the situation escalated after a foreign tourist allegedly assaulted a Thai man outside a shop in the area. Motorcycle taxi drivers nearby reportedly intervened to stop the altercation, but tensions quickly escalated into a wider fight. During the clash, the tourist allegedly struck one of the drivers on the head before being physically retaliated against.
Police said both sides eventually separated after the incident. Authorities have since recorded statements and issued formal warnings and probation orders to the two motorcycle taxi drivers involved.
Investigators are now working to locate the injured tourist in order to obtain further testimony, while collecting additional evidence to determine whether further legal action will be taken against those responsible.
