A Pattaya woman out shopping with her 19-month-old grandchild was robbed of more than 46,000 baht in gold jewelry by a drive-by thief who threatened to shoot her.

Kularb Tansantie, 54, said she never saw a gun during the Oct. 16 robbery outside a market on Thepprasit Soi 8, but the “chubby” man around 160-165 centimeters tall wearing a red woolen cap pulled up next to her on an unmarked motorbike and politely said, “Aunty please give me what you have on your arm” before grabbing her gold armband. Kularb said she pleaded with the robber not to take her valuables, to which he said he had a gun and would shoot her if she didn’t give up her gold.

He took her two-satang gold chain and a gold ring. He also grabbed the 50-baht cash she had in her hand for good measure.

Police are investigating.
