PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet led city officials to inspect progress on roofing and improvement work at the pedestrian footbridge near Wat Jittapawan and Pattaya City School 1. The project is currently undergoing tile installation and ceiling work to make the crossing more convenient and safer for residents and students. CCTV cameras will also be installed at the footbridge to improve security and allow officials to respond quickly if homeless or vulnerable people use the area as a place to stay.

Pattaya has planned covered footbridges at nine locations, including Pattaya City School 1, Cholchan, Ton Krabok, Pattaya City School 4, South Pattaya, Lotus Thepprasit, Pattaya City School 9 and Pattaya City School 7. Work can currently proceed at three locations — Pattaya City School 1, Cholchan and Pattaya City School 4. The remaining locations cannot yet be fitted with roofs because high-voltage power lines and poles are located in the areas.

Thipachai Rattanaveerathavorn, Director of the Infrastructure Development Division of Pattaya City’s Engineering Office, said the roofing and tiling work would improve convenience and safety for pedestrians and students using the crossings. Mayor Poramet instructed relevant departments to coordinate closely, resolve obstacles according to plan and minimize disruption to traffic while improving safety and convenience for residents and tourists.

Pattaya officials will continue monitoring the projects and coordinating with relevant agencies to address infrastructure problems and improve public facilities.

Residents can report problems to Pattaya City’s 1337 hotline.

Mayor Poramet discusses coordination with Provincial Electricity Authority officials over high-voltage power lines obstructing planned roof installation at several footbridge locations.

Workers install floor tiles at the footbridge near Wat Jittapawan as part of improvements to make the crossing safer and more comfortable for pedestrians and students.
