Having already demolished parts of the Pattaya Beach footpath to let floodwaters through, Pattaya officials are now doing the same in Jomtien Beach.

Deputy Mayor Pattana Boonsawat on Oct. 10 oversaw the work in front of his Surf Kitchen restaurant, near the Kasikornbank Jomtien Beach Road office and another spot near there.

Unable to properly control flooding and drainage, Pattaya officials have basically thrown in the towel, destroying parts of the recently rebuilt beachfront to allow flood runoff to reach the sea.

While in Jomtien, the deputy mayor also discovered an illegal garbage dump next to the Sai 2 Condo, another testament to Pattaya’s growing garbage crisis. He ordered it cleaned up.
