Fishermen at Jomtien Beach display and sell freshly caught seafood, bringing in the day’s catch amid breezy rainy season conditions.
PATTAYA, Thailand – Sea conditions off Pattaya have become increasingly rough, with gusty winds and higher-than-normal waves affecting boating activities and offshore travel routes during the rainy season. Local marine observers report that the unsettled weather has led to choppy seas in the Gulf of Thailand, particularly along routes to popular destinations such as Koh Larn and nearby fishing grounds used by tour boats and local operators. Tourists planning fishing trips or island excursions are being urged to check weather conditions carefully before departure, as sudden wind gusts can quickly increase wave height and make smaller vessels uncomfortable or unsafe.
In response to the conditions, Pattaya Tourist Police have been assisting visitors at the Bali Hai Pier area by helping tourists put on life jackets before boarding boats to Koh Larn. Officers also provided guidance on the importance of wearing life jackets throughout the journey to enhance safety at sea.
Tour operators continue to run services, but some trips may be delayed or adjusted depending on sea conditions. Authorities stress that safety precautions are especially important during periods of unstable weather. Tourists are advised to follow instructions from operators and officials and to remain flexible with travel plans during this period of changing sea conditions. For emergency assistance, tourists can contact the Tourist Police hotline at 1155, or use the Thailand Tourist Police Application (TPB App) and POLICE CARE App for support and assistance.
