PATTAYA, Thailand – The Meteorological Department warns that Pattaya and other areas along Thailand’s eastern coast may experience light rain in the next 24 hours, while southern provinces face heavier thunderstorms. Meanwhile, northern and northeastern regions are seeing cooler mornings and strong winds as temperatures begin to drop.

According to the Meteorological Department, a moderate high-pressure system from China is moving over the upper northeastern provinces, bringing cooler conditions. In contrast, the eastern wind and the monsoon trough stretching through central southern Thailand are causing scattered thunderstorms, particularly in provinces such as Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, and Pattani. Residents are advised to stay alert for heavy rain, localized flooding, and potential travel disruptions.

In coastal areas, the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are seeing waves around 1 meter high, with areas experiencing thunderstorms reporting waves above 2 meters. Fishermen and boat operators are urged to exercise caution and avoid navigating in stormy waters.

Additionally, Tropical Storm Fengchen over the upper South China Sea has intensified and is expected to make landfall in central Vietnam on 22–23 Oct before weakening rapidly. The storm is not expected to affect Thailand directly, although it may contribute to increased rainfall in southern regions.

In Bangkok and surrounding areas, light rain is possible, with temperatures ranging from 25–26°C in the early morning to 33–35°C during the day. In Pattaya, residents and visitors should prepare for intermittent showers and slightly cooler, breezy conditions along the coast.
