PM Anutin hails major drug network takedown after nationwide operation

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul praised law enforcement agencies for dismantling ten major narcotics networks in a nationwide crackdown that seized over 33 million meth pills and hundreds of kilograms of crystal meth and ketamine, reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to eradicating drug crime and safeguarding public security.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has announced the results of a nationwide narcotics crackdown that dismantled several major drug networks between October 9 and 20, 2025. Speaking at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau headquarters on October 21, he reported that authorities had concluded ten major cases, leading to 16 arrests and the seizure of large quantities of illegal drugs and related assets.


The Royal Thai Police operation resulted in the confiscation of 33.84 million methamphetamine pills, 800 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, and 500 kilograms of ketamine. Assets linked to the networks were also frozen pending further investigation. Senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, the Royal Thai Police, the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board were present at the announcement.

Prime Minister Anutin said the crackdown aligns with the government’s broader plan to eradicate narcotics networks and strengthen public safety. He called for stronger coordination among enforcement agencies to dismantle production, trafficking, and financial systems that sustain the drug trade, while ensuring long-term prevention and rehabilitation measures are advanced in parallel.


According to Anutin, the government will continue providing full institutional and operational support to all law enforcement agencies, including legal protection and welfare for officers involved in high-risk operations. The administration is also expanding cooperation with international partners to curb cross-border drug trafficking and improve intelligence-sharing mechanisms.

The Prime Minister called on authorities to intensify efforts against cybercrime and online scams, describing them as growing threats to public confidence and national security. He commended law enforcement agencies for their dedication and professionalism, reaffirming that their work is vital to maintaining peace, order, and public trust across the nation. (NNT)
