PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City officials have launched efforts to address three major infrastructure concerns on Koh Larn after receiving complaints from residents, focusing on drainage improvements, flood prevention and protection against monsoon waves. On July 21, Pattaya City Council members inspected problem areas on Koh Larn together with officials from Pattaya’s Engineering Department following reports from local residents. The inspection aimed to identify urgent issues and develop practical solutions to improve infrastructure for both residents and tourists, as Koh Larn remains one of Pattaya’s most important tourism destinations.
Officials identified three main concerns during the visit. The first involved blocked drainage pipes near Kok Makham Road in front of a temple, where poor water flow has affected the area. Authorities coordinated with relevant teams to clear the drainage system and restore its effectiveness. The second issue involved monsoon waves hitting coastal barriers, causing seawater to splash into nearby homes along the shoreline. Officials ordered a survey of the affected areas and a study into possible improvements to coastal protection structures to reduce long-term impacts.
The third concern was the capacity of some drainage systems, which have struggled to handle heavy rainfall, resulting in water accumulation on roads and affecting travel for residents and visitors. Officials assigned relevant agencies to inspect the system and prepare plans for improvements.
The inspection reflected Pattaya City’s approach of listening to residents and turning reported problems into practical solutions. Relevant departments were instructed to speed up operations and continue monitoring progress. Pattaya City will continue visiting communities, gathering public feedback and coordinating with related agencies to improve living conditions, strengthen infrastructure and enhance safety on Koh Larn. The city reaffirmed its commitment to addressing local concerns through cooperation, timely action and continuous improvements for residents and visitors.
