PATTAYA, Thailand – Koh Larn Tourist Police helped mediate a dispute between a Chinese visitor and a banana boat operator after a tourist was injured during a ride at Tawaen Beach. On August 1, tourist police received a request for assistance through the 1155 Tourist Police hotline from a Chinese visitor who said his girlfriend was injured during a banana boat activity at Tawaen Beach on Koh Larn the previous afternoon.
The tourist told officers that around 3:00 p.m. on July 31, he and his girlfriend joined a banana boat ride when an impact from the boat’s engine struck her under the chin. The following morning, she developed severe chin pain and a headache, prompting the couple to contact the operator and request medical assistance. However, the two sides were initially unable to reach an agreement, leading the tourist to seek help from Tourist Police.
Officers explained the situation to both parties, clarified the visitor’s rights and outlined the relevant legal procedures. After discussions, the operator agreed to take responsibility and cover the actual medical expenses for treatment at a hospital. Both sides reached an understanding and the matter was resolved peacefully. Tourist Police reminded visitors that assistance is available through the 1155 hotline for emergencies, disputes or other tourism-related concerns.
