NAN, Thailand – The Nan Provincial Industry Office has resumed normal operations as flood conditions improve, while officials assess damage to factories and businesses across the province. Facilities affected by flooding must undergo safety checks covering electrical systems, machinery, wastewater treatment, and other essential systems before reopening.
An industry ministry assessment covering 17 upper northern provinces found business damage only in Nan, where 29 establishments were affected across Wiang Sa, Tha Wang Pha, Pua, Phu Phiang, and the capital districts. They include 22 factories, four small and medium-sized enterprises, and three community enterprises, with preliminary losses estimated at 3.48 million baht.
Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa reported on August 24 that affected operators are seeking assistance with repairs to buildings and machinery, access to financing, and exemptions from factory-related fees. The ministry is preparing relief and rehabilitation measures, while technical teams will inspect electrical systems, assist with equipment repairs, and advise businesses on safely resuming operations.
Food, household supplies, and other goods donated by the private sector are also being distributed through the ministry’s Industry United Center.
