PATTAYA, Thailand – Police and naval authorities are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was discovered washed ashore at Toei Ngam Beach within the Royal Thai Marine Corps base in Sattahip on the afternoon of June 15. The discovery was reported at around 3:00 p.m. by security personnel from the Royal Thai Marine Corps. Responding to the scene were investigators from Sattahip Police Station, military officers, and rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Foundation. The body was found near the flagpole area in front of Marine Corps Headquarters. The deceased, whose age and nationality remain unknown, was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and denim shorts. Authorities said the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with no identification documents found at the scene. Initial assessments suggest the man had been dead for at least a week before the body washed ashore. Investigators documented the scene and collected evidence before removing the body for further examination.
Police are coordinating with the Port In-Port Out (PIPO) Center and other agencies while checking records of missing persons and tourists reported missing in an effort to identify the deceased. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a detailed autopsy. Forensic specialists will work to establish the victim’s identity, determine the exact cause of death, and investigate whether the death was linked to criminal activity. Authorities have not ruled out foul play and are examining whether the victim may have died elsewhere before ending up in the sea. Efforts are also underway to locate relatives of the deceased as the investigation continues.
