UDON THANI, Thailand – A midnight fire tore through nine homes in a village in Kumphawapi district, Udon Thani, forcing seven residents to flee to safety. No injuries or deaths were reported.
The fire broke out at around 1 a.m. on September 21 in Ban Kong Phan, Phan Don subdistrict. Kumphawapi police received the report at about 2:30 a.m. and coordinated with local authorities to send fire trucks to the scene.
The blaze started at house No. 137, a two-storey structure combining concrete and wood, before spreading rapidly to neighbouring homes. Initial inspections found nine houses damaged in Moo 8. Several homes suffered heavy fire damage, while others were damaged along their sides by the spreading flames.
Boonchu Phoklang, a resident of the house where the fire began, said she was inside when flames were spotted in a storage room on the ground floor. The fire quickly spread, prompting the seven people inside to evacuate and alert neighboring households.
Firefighters deployed multiple trucks and continuously sprayed water to contain the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control, with all affected residents managing to escape safely.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Police are examining the scene, gathering evidence and questioning witnesses as part of the investigation.
