BANGKOK, Thailand – Italy’s newly appointed Police Attaché to Thailand, Luigi Vissicchio, met with Thailand’s Tourist Police on August 17 to discuss cooperation on the safety and assistance of Italian tourists visiting or residing in Thailand. The meeting, hosted by Pol. Maj. Gen. Phongsiam Meekhanthong, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, focused on strengthening coordination between the two countries, including support for Italian nationals and communication on Thai laws, regulations, customs and prohibited conduct.


Thai Tourist Police also promoted the Thailand Tourist Police application and the 1155 Tourist Police hotline as channels for tourists to report incidents and seek assistance. Vissicchio was accompanied by an Italian immigration expert, cyber expert and assistant. The delegation later visited the Tourist Police emergency response and command center, where officers demonstrated its incident-reporting system and AI-powered camera technology. The two sides also shared lunch to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the Italian Police Attaché and Thailand’s Tourist Police.
