PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya and other parts of eastern Thailand are being warned to prepare for heavy rainfall from July 29–30, with the Meteorological Department forecasting intense downpours that could lead to flash flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas. The warning comes as a monsoon trough extends across northern and upper northeastern Thailand, while stronger southwest monsoon winds continue to affect the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The Meteorological Department said heavy rain is expected in many areas, with very heavy rainfall possible in parts of the Northeast, Central, East, and the western coast of the South. Residents in Pattaya and nearby areas are advised to remain alert for possible flooding, particularly in low-lying communities, areas near waterways, and locations prone to drainage problems. Authorities also warned motorists to take extra care during periods of heavy rain due to reduced visibility and possible water buildup on roads.
For coastal areas, waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand and lower Andaman Sea are expected to reach around 2 meters, with higher waves during thunderstorms. Boat operators are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing during storm conditions. The public is encouraged to follow weather updates closely as conditions may change throughout the affected period.
