CHONBURI, Thailand – One person was killed and two others were injured in a violent collision between two pickup trucks at an intersection in Phan Thong district, Chonburi, shortly after midnight on Monday. The crash occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on August 3 on the Phan Thong–Ban Kao Road near the entrance to Soi 13 leading to Ban Kao Reservoir.
Rescue volunteers from the Jaturatham Prateep Foundation, emergency medical personnel, and police responded to the scene. Authorities found a heavily damaged two-door Toyota Vigo pickup and a box-body pickup truck that had collided with significant force. The driver of the box-body pickup was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from the vehicle by the impact. Two other people were injured, including the Toyota Vigo driver, who sustained serious injuries. Rescue workers provided first aid before transporting the victims to Phan Thong Hospital.
Preliminary reports indicate the Toyota Vigo was traveling straight from the Hang Le Market area, while the box-body pickup was turning out of Soi 13 near a convenience store when the collision occurred. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officers will examine evidence at the scene and review CCTV footage from nearby cameras as part of the inquiry. The damaged vehicles were removed to restore traffic flow, while the victim’s body was transferred for an autopsy before being released to relatives for funeral arrangements.
