PATTAYA, Thailand – A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured after a Honda CR-V carrying a family of three crashed into the rear of a 10-wheel truck transporting a crane on Highway 36 in Banglamung district. The accident occurred at around 12:40 a.m. on July 26 on Highway 36 heading toward Rayong, opposite the Bira Circuit in Pong subdistrict, East Pattaya.
At the scene, rescuers found a grey Honda CR-V with heavy front-end damage after it had slammed into the rear of the truck. Vehicle parts and engine oil were scattered across the road. Inside the SUV, rescuers found three injured family members. The mother, who was driving, suffered injuries, while her daughter sustained injuries including a head wound. Their 13-year-old son was found in critical condition and struggling to breathe.
Rescue workers used emergency equipment to remove the boy from the damaged vehicle before providing first aid and rushing him to hospital for urgent treatment. The other vehicle involved was a 10-wheel truck carrying a crane, which suffered rear damage. The truck driver, identified as 64-year-old Songphon Phromchaeng, told police he was driving toward a company located less than 50 meters from the crash site when he suddenly heard a loud impact from behind.
He said he stopped and immediately checked the situation before contacting authorities to help the injured passengers. Police inspected the crash scene, recorded evidence and collected witness statements as part of an investigation into the cause of the collision. Authorities will continue reviewing details before taking further legal action.
