PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya firefighters had a slippery late-night job on Sept 5 when they were called to capture a three-meter python found behind the Thepprasit Housing Estate. The Jomtien-area Pattaya City Fire Station received the call at 11:49 p.m. and dispatched Inspection Vehicle 407 and a team of officers to deal with the large reptile. Firefighters located the python and successfully captured it, bringing the late-night encounter to a safe end. The incident also prompted a simple warning for Pattaya residents: don’t try to catch a large snake yourself.
Even apparently calm pythons can be powerful and unpredictable, and attempting to handle one can result in injury to both people and the animal. Residents who encounter a large snake should keep their distance, move children and pets away from the area and call trained officials rather than attempting to capture it themselves.
