A disturbed man was charged with assault after allegedly smashing a Japanese tourist with a beer bottle for no reason.
Naruenat Kanmaen, 29, was arrested at his apartment on Soi Buakhao Feb. 22 shortly after allegedly attacking Naoya Okamoto at the Baek Ka Din restaurant on South Road Soi 1.
Okamoto was having a meal with friends when Naruenat approached the group and slammed a bottle of beer on the Japanese man’s head.
Police said Naruenat confessed to the attack but couldn’t explain why he did it, as he is being treated for mental problems.
